danny glared as the mixture curdled and turned a dark grey for the third time that morning. most of the time, he could make a peaceful sleep potion in ... well, in his sleep. his mother would say it was because instead of a cauldron he was using a knock-off le creuset goose pot, but his mother was dead and therefore no longer able to offer up her wisdom.

everyone was dead. he was the last corrigan.

at least the curse would die with him.

grabbing the whole pot and tossing it in the sink, dandelion rummaged in his pocket for his pipe, hoping the familiar ritual would help calm his temper. "i don't suppose you know why this shitting thing won't work?" he tossed over his shoulder, not really expecting a reply from his familiar.

danny almost preferred connor in his mouse form. it was rude to think, perhaps, but danny wasn't the friendliest of guys -- he used to be, before he saw the curse take everyone he cared about, one by one. now, in the wake of that, he liked to keep to himself -- but there was no denying that witch was more powerful with a familiar than without.

and it wasn't like he didn't like connor -- it was just that, as a mouse, danny could almost forget that he was anything but. it was no coincidence that he was kinder to connor's mouse form, more open and -- at times -- affectionate.

danny sighed, reluctant to follow connor's advice, but knowing it was for the best. "i hate it when you're right," he replied, beginning to pack up his supplies again. "i hate it less when you're a mouse."

Connor looked at him in mouse form. He didnt really know what was happening but he knew his witch wasnt calm and usually his best magic was done when calm. He bopped up onto his shoulder and let out a small but deep voice. "Well youre usually very calm when your magic works."

"SO maybe come back to it when you arent pissed off at it not working. Also are you remembering the ingredients needed for the ritual?" He looked at him with a little mouse face. "Give it a day and come back to it."

He moved and got on the floor. He shifted and bones cracked as he entered his human form. "God being a mouse can be very uncomfortable sometimes."
